IMC'S FOOD WASTE RECYCLING SOLUTION WINS ANOTHER INDUSTRY AWARD!
On Tuesday 27th January 2009, IMC was announced as the proud winner of the Association for Organics Recycling’s prestigious ‘Research and Development Award’.
The Association for Organics Recycling’s Annual Awards showcase excellence and innovation across the composting industry. The Association for Organics Recycling has released the following press statement:
IMC innovatively created a sustainable and economically viable solution for converting catering food waste into high quality compost. This pioneering process has been the focus of a 3 year research project by staff of Imperial College, London, with the final results published in March 2008. IMC fitted most prisons in England and Wales with a food waste disposer and in conjunction with the company’s unique dewatering equipment, IMC pioneered a solution to assist in the pre-treatment of food waste for composting.
The judges were particularly impressed with IMC’s innovative foresight to recognise the importance of segregation and treatment of waste at source. This has led to its research into product development and hence the opportunity for the waste management industry to target commercial and industrial organisations as highlighted in Defra’s waste strategy by delivering a series of compact units.
It was recognised by the judges that the quality and extent of IMC’s research programme to generate new products will significantly benefit the sustainable waste management industry.
