WEEKEND ABSEILING EVENT ON 28TH & 29TH MARCH

Abseil event down two unique venues - Wrexham Fire Station and Devil’s Gorge, Mold for children’s charity.

TIME: 09:00-17:00

Action for Children-Gweithredu dros Blant is calling on thrill seekers to support its work with vulnerable children in Wales – by jumping off the top of Devil’s Gorge near Mold, or from the tower of Wrexham fire station!

The charity’s weekend of abseiling takes place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2009. On the Saturday, participants will be attached to a rope to descend the outside of the fire brigade’s training tower in Wrexham. Sunday’s event sees a roped descent of popular beauty spot, Devil’s Gorge near Mold.

Action for Children-Gweithredu dros Blant Senior Fundraiser Abigail Henderson, said: “We’re really looking forward to our weekend of abseiling in north Wales – and we’re sure that there are plenty of local daredevils who will want to join us for an adrenaline-filled descent of Wrexham Fire Station or Devil's Gorge. You never know, we might find some keen abseilers who fancy doing both!

“Best of all, everyone who takes part will be helping to support our work with some of Wales’ most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.”

Action for Children-Gweithredu dros Blant has over 50 centres throughout Wales, and last year supported over 14,000 children, young people and their families.

The charity operates several projects that serve Wrexham and Flintshire, including a young carers support project, a playscheme for families with young people and a centre that helps young people who have experienced traumatic events during their childhood.
