WELCOME/CROESO/WITAMY/BEN VINDO/Benvenuto/ Willkommen/обро пожаловать/Sveiki!

The CommUnity project’s been developed in order to help/support migrants who may have problems as a newcomer in Wrexham and to make it easier to integrate into their Community.

We are here to help anyone no matter where in the World they come from, or who they are. If someone is in crisis or needs information, we will assist. We already have several volunteers involved with the project and some who translate our material in many languages, so if you have a language skill please get in touch so that we can make information available to your people, and add 'Welcome' in your language.

INTEGRATION and COHESION
We wish to help vulnerable migrants become resilient, independent and knowledgeable about their local community in order to become integrated, accepted, and happy members of that community.
WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP
Taking into account work already carried out under the ‘Fair Share Scheme’ work, and that of other agencies in Wrexham we hope to build on and complement this work, and provide a service, which is not already available. In this way we can help those in need, and contribute to the Wrexham Community Cohesion strategy.

PRACTICAL HELP AND INFORMATION
We have been building up a team of friendly, approachable volunteers who are trained to help anyone who contacts the project with information about other services, on employment issues, housing issues, school issues, health issues and anything else that may become difficult for you to deal with. We also provide very basic English language and Life Skills courses for those who do not yet have the confidence to attend ESOL classes or for whom paying for ESOL classes is a problem.

CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
The British Red Cross in Wales has a lot of experience in helping children and young people who may find it difficult to settle into a new school, make friends, adapt to living in a new culture and country. We will be speaking with schools in order to see how we can offer help of this kind.
RECRUITMENT
We are copnstantly looking for and taking on volunteers as mentioned above, and more than anything we need volunteers who are willing to translate for us. This can be done by e-mail so will not require attendance at the project office, or it can be done there. We really want to reach out and help as many people as possible which means being able to provide information in their languages. If you are interested in helping as a volunteer, or know someone who may be please contact Daniel Williams (details below).
