Ransom & Release

It’s not everyday you get chance to nominate your boss to be captured and held to ransom, but that’s exactly what NCH Cymru has in mind for its upcoming ‘Ransom and Release’ event.

The children’s charity is raising vital funds for its work in north Wales by staging a ‘Ransom and Release’ event at Alyn Lodge in Wrexham on 25th June. Local business people, dignitaries, celebrities, politicians and other prominent community figures are being encouraged to sign up to be captured and held until they can raise ransom money to secure their release. Anyone who feels that their boss might be a candidate for capture is also encouraged to get in touch with NCH Cymru.

NCH Cymru Fundraiser Abigail Henderson, said: “We’ve organised Ransom and Release as a fun event to raise £10,000 to support NCH Cymru’s work with vulnerable young people and their families throughout north Wales. Our VIP’s – Very Important Prisoners! – will spend their day in captivity contacting friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances for pledges to raise their ransom money of £1,000 for their release. We hope the event is going to prove to be a great networking opportunity for those involved as well as being good fun and of course raise plenty of money.”

The event takes place on Wednesday 25th June, with VIPs captured from their homes or workplaces by NCH and taken by First Limoz limousines to the venue. Local youngsters, including those at Longfields in Wrexham, benefit from these regional fundraising activities.

Our work at Longfields cover supporting young carers who assist with the care of a parent or sibling on a daily basis, by giving them time to have a few hours respite to play and socialise with other children who live in a similar situation and also give them a chance to simply be themselves; helping children who have suffered severe trauma in their lives for example abuse, neglect, loss; and we also work with children who may be showing early signs of psychological or mental health issues.

If you or anyone you know wants to sign up please get in contact with Abigail Henderson on 01690 750 314 or email abigail.henderson@nch.org.uk
