Following a successful bid for funding by North Wales Police, Eastern Division, since February 2001 the Home Office and the National Assembly for Wales have been funding a Targeted Policing initiative on Wrexham Industrial Estate,

That funding has been used to provide two police personnel whose specific role has been to reduce levels of crime and improve community safety throughout the estate.

Constable Ian Massie and Mr Ian McDonald have both had a significant impact on the development of initiatives to reduce crime on the estate. A number of methods have been used to achieve this objective including a radio link scheme, CCTV, training of security officers, increased high visibility patrols in the area and the introduction of Business, Security and Environmental Forums.

Supported by the businesses on the Estate and based within the Co-ordination Unit, PC Ste Griffith and PC Peter
Jones now continue the excellent work developed from the TPI project, to provide a safer environment for you on Wrexham Industrial Estate.

The success of the innovative North Wales project has been recognised by the Home office recently as a model of Best Practice.
